aprilsvigil: My boyfriend and I are considering having a kid, but the one big thing holding me back from being completely ready and willing is my weight. At 230lbs (and as far as I know, not terribly unhealthy because of it) I'm terrified that I won't have a successful pregnancy. Rationally I know a lot of its BS and that women have problems regardless of size, but I can't help but worry because everything I read about plus size pregnancy is so negative. Do you know of any positive reading I could do?
The best thing you can do is seek out support from other plus size moms. there’s a group on Facebook called Plus Size and Pregnant www.facebook.com/groups/naturalplussizepreggos that you could join to talk to other plus size ladies that are TTC, or already pregnant, so you can have a community to ask questions and find out what worked for other women in your position :) my blog, Momma Friendly (mommafriendly.blogspot.com) also features lots of birth stories (many from plus size women) and general health and pregnancy information you might find useful. hope that helps, and sending baby dust your way!
